Let's get real for a minute, shall we? In case you think this is what my garden looks like right now...let me assure you, IT DOES NOT.

I did not grow a garden this year. I planted no seeds. I bought no starts. I have no sunflowers. No tomatoes. No dahlias. There are things that were there that have bloomed, sure. But I've done no deadheading, weeding or pruning.

Do not believe the lie that you can do it all, or that somebody else is. We grew a remodel project this year, and that was more than enough. AND, one year without a garden won't kill ya. I'm living proof.

Hope that's an encouragement if you're feeling like you can't do it all. And yes, I am looking forward to gardening again next year. 🌻

EXTREME STAIR MAKEOVER!!!!

The stairs might be the most dramatic change in our recent remodel project. From dark, dingy and falling apart…to BRIGHT, BEAUTIFUL and rock solid!!!!

We used White Oak treads from @lumliquidators finished with Antique White stain by @varathane. Wood beadboard from @loweshomeimprovement and lots of @sherwinwilliams Alabaster pant in semi-gloss. And a gorgeous White Oak handrail from @cascadedoorsalem.

This space went from the stinky armpit of our house to it’s crowning glory! 🤍 #swedishcottage #remodel #fixerupper #swedishcottagestyle #cottagereno

Taking some time to rest while the rain falls this

Taking some time to rest while the rain falls this weekend. I'm not great at resting or relaxing, and I always feel a little guilty about it, but the truth is I'm running on empty. This remodel is the BIGGEST blessing, but things like rest, quiet, holding still and personal hygiene 😂 have not been at an all time high. Everything takes sacrifice! And it'll be so worth it.

Meanwhile, let's talk about my roses which have been insane this year. I will never plant anything but @david_austin_roses in my gardens. So easy to care for, easy to grow and so prolific. And the scent!!!!!! #davidaustinroses🌹 #davidaustin #cottageroses #englishroses #potageronline

Let’s stain my STIAR TREADS.

We went with White Oak from @lumliquidators for our treads. I decided to go with an Antique White stain by @varathane for the finish, as the stairwell is fairly dark, and I just wanted to take the yellow out of the wood.

First I applied a wood conditioner, then the stain, then 2 coats of polycrilic. Couple weeks and they’ll be installed! Now I wanna refinish our pine floors. 🤣🎉 #swedishcottage #cottageremodel #swedishcottageremodel #fixerupper

My little kitchen is currently wrapped in plastic

My little kitchen is currently wrapped in plastic and covered in drywall dust, so I'm clinging to cleaner moments. 😂 Renovations continue upstairs and we are just flying by the seat of our pants for the foreseeable future.

My FAVORITE part of home renovations…

is working with my Dad!

My sweet dad @ramester23 owned a construction company for 40 years. He built incredible homes, buildings and works of art. He is incredibly talented, self-taught and forged his way in an extremely competitive and cutthroat industry. I grew up on job sites, admiring his craftsmanship, application of beautiful materials and eye for architectural detail.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with him on my own homes, and through the sweat, sawdust and occasional swear words 🤣 we have forged some everlasting memories.

Two of my dearest friends tragically lost their dads this last year. I’m not taking one single moment for granted.
