"Everyday, as I scurried up the front steps of the "Everyday, as I scurried up the front steps of the restored Victorian manse our little restaurant called home, slid up the narrow back stairs, and stepped into my crisp chef’s whites, my mind was on nothing but the work. It never came home with me. When I left the kitchen, my time was my own. And while I was there, I existed in that unattainable “flow state,” the likes of which I’d only experienced in sports. It was addicting and exhilarating...."R E A D M O R E -> I'm revisiting my culinary days on my @substack today. This morning I was chatting with friends I hadn't This morning I was chatting with friends I hadn't seen in a while, which was lovely in and of itself. But when they asked about our recent remodel, I was also reminded of the incredible gift of my finished home. Last summer, we were blessed enough to be able to "finish" our house. There's still lots of ideas and projects to come, but for all intents and purposes, our space is complete. I cannot tell you what a massive relief to my soul, nervous system, and daily life, this remodel has been, and I never take it for granted. Not a single day since. And if you, like me for so long, are working hard to cultivate a heart of gratitude amidst the chaos of an unfinished space, GOOD ON YA. Your day will come. Keep doing the good work, friend. You've got this. And it will all be worth it someday. ❤️#swedishcottage #swedishcottagestyle #fixerupper #remodel #cottageremodel
Writing about personal style seems kind of hilario Writing about personal style seems kind of hilarious coming from this girl who has spent most of her life in t-shirts and jeans. Exhibits A, B and C. But I'm really enjoying it. Post on my @substack coming soon.In the meantime, tell me your philosophy on personal style. How do you choose what you wear? What do you feel best in? Is it the same as what looks best on you? Have you gone through different style phases? Do you even think about it at all? I'm so curious and love talking about this topic. Leave me a comment!Turning almost 40, it feels like the right time to maybe step things up a notch. Showing up in sweats and no makeup was much cuter in my 20's than it's looking these days. 😂
There wasn't much in front of our little cottage w There wasn't much in front of our little cottage when we first moved in. You can see what it looked like before, if you click through all the photos. Over the last few years we have put our blood, sweat and tears into this space- our dream Cottage Garden- and even though things are just getting started for Spring, I'm so in love with this space. With the addition of 7 new roses, moved over from the Potager, I can hardly wait until May, when the year's biggest, blousiest blooms come out to play. Now the real question is...what do I add this year? Leave your ideas below! 🌸✨#swedishcottage #swedishcottagegardens #cottagegardens #cottagecore
It's still early and WET out in the garden, and tr It's still early and WET out in the garden, and truthfully, my own plot isn't even ready for planting. But I always start to crave Spring greens this time of year. This recipe for Garden Chop Salad with a delicious Green Goddess dressing is an early Spring favorite. Helps clear some of that Winter blah out of the veins.Recipe on the blog! Link in bio. #gardensalad #springgreens #greengoddess #chopsalad

What a humbling responsibility to be given. And what a grand occasion to rise to. It’s good to be HOME."I wrote about coming home the other day on my @substack. And then I got out my camera and wandered around the property to catch all the first flushes of Spring. It was Winter when we left, but Winter is quickly fading into Spring.#swedishcottage #signsofspring #swedishcottagestyle #cottagecore
